DO YOU NEED?
A Start-up Enterprise must be measured as an Exempt Micro Enterprise (EME) for the first year following its formation or incorporation.
This provision applies regardless of the expected total revenue of the Start-up Enterprise. A Start-up Enterprise must submit a QSE Scorecard when tendering for any contract or seeking any economic activity with a value higher than R10 million but less than R50 million. For contracts of R50 million or more, they should submit a Generic Scorecard. The preparation of such Scorecards must use annualized data.

BBBEE WISE FAQS
Does B-BBEE expire?
Yes, a B‑BBEE certificate or affidavit is valid for only 12 months from the date of issue. This means your compliance status effectively expires each year, and a new verification must be completed annually.
At BBBEE Wise, we help you stay compliant year after year with proactive planning, accurate documentation, and a strategy tailored to your timeline.
What is the purpose of BBBEE?
The purpose of Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) is to promote meaningful participation of black South Africans in the economy, helping to build a more inclusive, sustainable future.
At BBBEE Wise, we believe B-BBEE should be more than a compliance exercise. We work with companies that recognise its value and want to create real, lasting change; not just on paper, but in the way they do business. Our goal is to guide and support organisations that are committed to transformation, empowerment, and growth for all.
How long does a BBBEE certificate take?
The B-BBEE verification process typically takes four to six weeks from the time all required documentation is submitted. However, the timeline can vary depending on the size and complexity of your business, as well as how quickly information is provided.
